Return to Work

Return to Work

Many people find that after an injury they struggle to return to work. Often the injured area is feeling better but when you try to get back to work, you continue to get pain. This can be difficult to interpret; is the pain ‘bad’ and you are not ready to return, or is it ‘good’ and your injury is behaving exactly as you would expect? Perhaps you have had a fracture or surgery and are unsure how to start your exercise programme? At Murphy Physiotherapy we are happy to help guide you through the process of safely returning to work. It is also important to look at why the injury happened in the first place, and to ensure that there are no mechanical predisposing factors likely to cause a recurrence.

Jo Murphy works one day a week in an occupational health environment and so is used to treating both work related injuries, and those injuries that affect performance at work. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE). This special interest group allows occupational health physiotherapists and other health professionals to share both best practice and the results of new research.
